Smiemans Projecten built the superstructure of the World Horti Center. This special project is THE international platform for horticulture where research, education and business come together.
Our projects are often abroad, this time close by in its own region.
We started in March 2017 with the glass construction with a surface of 4.520m2. The glass roof is 12.30 meters high, this is high enough for two floors with shared facilities for ± 300 guests, such as an auditorium, meeting rooms, flexible workstations and a restaurant. Completion was in november 2017. The Dutch Queen Máxima officially opened the World Horti Center, the international knowledge and innovation centre for greenhouse horticulture on March 7 2018.
Westland has a world-leading position in greenhouse horticulture.
365 days a year well-known and leading companies will present their innovative products. They will use these facilities, some have a permanent place. Next to the glass building a school and greenhouses for research are located, which will also lead to innovation.
