Progressive project
A special project by EdenParks – part of Smiemans Projecten – has now been set up at Bomencentrum Nederland in Baarn. This tree nursery has over 100,000 trees, comprising 750 species and varieties. There is a brand new event location In the middle of this gigantic 25 ha park. A beautifully designed meeting centre called Jardin d’Hiverre is situated by the waterside. This extraordinary project can be fully appreciated in these special surroundings.
Sustainable and biophilic-built glass construction
Nature plays a major role in the sustainable and biophilic-built glass construction that has a total surface area of 1,120m² and a height of 9 meters. A row of amber trees on the south side of the complex act as a sunscreen in the summer and in the winter the bare trees allow the sun to heat the building. In the basement, a light and cool ground floor, the adjacent lake provides natural cooling.
The victorian roof is a technical tour de force
The special shape of the roof and the materials used in this progressive project are a wonderful way of showing the professional skill of EdenParks. Wooden rafters made of Austrian pine have been used for the load-bearing structure, on top of which are coated steel profiles. Green coloured glass was used and part of the steel structure is replaced for a wooden construction, which gives the total picture a warm appearance.
Facilities for meetings and entertainment are located in the basement, on the ground-floor the space is multifunctional, and on the first floor the kitchen, toilets and office are situated. Hans Blokzijl, the owner of Bomencentrum Nederland, opened the doors to visitors in February 2017.
