Tropical plants find new home at Botanical garden Flora
At the moment around 6,000 very old and almost extinct tropical plants are planted in the new glasshouse at Flora und Botanischer Garten Köln in Germany. The Tropical Glasshouse is a 17 metre high arched construction covering an area of 3,000 m2.
This botanical greenhouse simulates both tropical and desert climates. Once the interior is finished, we will be able to complete the project by connecting it to the newly built Orangery.
In summer, conditions are ideal for planting tropical plants. Last year this deadline was not met due to delivery problems of climate computers.
The architect is Königs Architekten.
If all goes well, visitors will be able to enjoy the new tropical greenhouse by the end of 2023.
